Sabina Sudan

Sabina Sudan is a corporate lawyer with over 25 years’ experience – 15 in Legal (India and the U.S.) where she advised different industries, and since 2005, in global Ethics & Compliance, Anti-Corruption and Ethical Leadership.  She has lived and worked in India, New York, Arizona and Singapore and travelled to over 60 countries, mostly on business.  She is now a Consultant and an adjunct professor and currently operates from Singapore and Delhi.  She is qualified to practice law in Delhi and the U.S. (New York & Arizona). She is admitted to theBars inNew York (1991); Arizona (1991) and Delhi (1985).  


Her academic qualifications include a:

· Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. First Div.) Faculty of Law, Delhi University

· Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Psychology Major, First Div.) Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University


Teaching: She has been an Adjunct Associate Professor at Nanyang Business School, National Technological University (NTU), Singapore since January 2016 and teaches “Legal and Ethical Issues in Sustainability” to the undergrad students and “Corporate Governance & Ethics” to the MBA and the Professional MBA students.


Since August 2016, she has also been an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School, Singapore and teaches a seminar on “Ethical Leadership & Corporate Strategy”.


She is Visiting Faculty at the Global Risk Management Institute, NCR, India since 2018 “Regulatory and Compliance Risks” and at the Indian School of Business (ISB) Hyderabad since 2017 in the Executive Education Programs on Governance – “Creating Value Through CSR Projects” and “Linking Strategy to Compliance – Business Value Creation”. She has been a Speaker / Panelist / Faculty at various conferences in different countries since 1990.


Sabina’s seminar content includes Ethics & Compliance, Labor and Human Rights, Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Governance, Sustainability Reporting, Anti-Corruption and related topics.


Industry Experience: From Nov 2010 to Feb 2015, Sabina was the Vice President and Compliance Officer, Pharma International (covering all markets ex-US) with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), based in Singapore.  Sabina supported the President Pharma International and all the Area Business Directors.  She was a member of the Area and Regional Leadership Teams.


From July 2005 to September 2010, she was a Director Ethics & Compliance with Abbott Labs, based also in Singapore, and supported the Pacific Africa Asia (PAA) regions.  She successfully rolled out an international compliance program across PAA as early as 2005. She designed policies and procedures for the compliance program and worked with senior leaders in region and in country to reinforce an ethical culture with a strong emphasis on anti-bribery/the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the elements of an effective compliance program. 


Her roles at both Abbott and GSK included providing training on anti-corruption, codes of conduct, conflicts of interest, values-based decision making and related topics at country/area/regional meetings that included senior leadership.


Board Related Experience

At GSK, Sabina drafted and co-presented the Annual Business Report with the Business President, first to the Audit & Risk Committee and subsequently to the Board from 2011 to 2014; she was the Board Secretary at UGO Networks Inc., New York (2004-2005); and Non-Executive Board Member, Winrock India (1997 – 1999).


From August 1998 – September 1999, Sabina co-anchored “India Business Week”, a weekly program on Star TV broadcast to 59 countries in the Far East, South Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East. She researched business issues to help define program content with the producers and conducted in studio interviews with business and corporate leaders, government ministers and officials and authors.


In October 2010, successfully completed a trek to the Everest Base Camp.
